Up close and personal was the only way I could describe the whale’s behavior this week once we rounded the north western end of Moreton Island. Pods of sub Adults were in abundance and mugging us on board Eye Spy so close we could that it was a question of ‘who was watching who’.

The humpback is one of few mammals that has a strong muscle and an adapted lens that allows them to see above the water as well as underneath the water, the eye is the size of a grapefruit and very human like, interestingly enough they have extremely long eyelashes, this was a week that will remain in my memory for years to come.
